Coco Robotics, a Los Angeles company that already runs pavement delivery robots in the US and Europe, is coming to the UK as Deliveroo’s exclusive robot partner. Both companies announced the deal on 5 October 2026. The first robots are due “this October” around Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf, carrying orders from Patty&Bun, Signorelli and Beam. Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton on Tees and Nottingham follow “in the coming weeks and months”, with no dates for each. The robots are electric, travel at walking pace on the pavement and are meant for short trips. Neither company has given a fleet size, a delivery fee or the share of orders robots will take. Deliveroo says the majority will still be delivered by riders. October ended without any report, from either company or the press, of a completed customer delivery, and neither has given a new date. We score the October promise as missed unless evidence turns up that a robot delivered an order in time. It is not the UK’s first pavement robot: Starship has delivered in Milton Keynes since 2018 and in parts of Leeds through Uber Eats. For a takeaway or café in one of the five areas, this means robots may arrive through the Deliveroo tablet you already have, not a new contract. Ask Deliveroo how robot orders are charged and packed before agreeing to take part.
